GGP passes over Belos, the Swedish supplier of professional ground maintenance products, to Kärcher within February 2011.
With this acquisition the German world market leader in cleaning technology has further extended its market position. The Scandinavian manufacturer’s range of high-performance local authority cleaning, winter road maintenance and grassed area maintenance vehicles fits very neatly into the existing Kärcher portfolio.
GGP/Belos has cooperated with Kaercher since 2009 in designing and manufacturing multifunctional sweepers. “This successful collaboration has convinced us of the high level of vehicle development competence at Belos. By acquiring the company we have now laid the groundwork for the expansion of our product range and successful long-term business in the market for local authority technology,” said Kärcher CEO Hartmut Jenner. For the GGP Group this deal fits very well to its strategy in fully focusing on the needs of the outdoor gardening market where Belos products play no role. “We are pleased that our excellent cooperation with Kärcher since 2009 has been developed most successfully and now resulted in this transfer, that we believe will strengthen Belos further in the professional market", confirmed GGP CEO Georg Metz.
Kärcher retains the established Belos brand and employs all staff members of the Swedish municipal supplier. GGP will continue to manufacture the Belos machines in its factory in Tranas, Sweden. The Belos dealer network is well developed in Europe and North America. Kärcher attaches an important position to it and will supervise it more intensive in future. The parties have agreed not to disclose the purchase price.
World market leader Kärcher has a current payroll of over 7,400 employees in 47 countries. The family firm manufactures its cleaning equipment in Germany, Italy, the United States, Brazil, Mexico and China. Fifty thousand service points in over 190 countries provide seamless customer service around the world. Over 600 engineers and technicians at Kärcher development centres design new problem solutions. In 2010 the cleaning specialist celebrated its 75th company anniversary.
With a turnover of circa 410 million Euros and 1200 employees in 5 production units and 10 subsidiaries in Europe, the GGP Group is strategically focusing on its core business – to be the leader in all major kinds of lawn mowing products – thus investing in its four well known consumer brands Stiga, Alpina, Mountfield and Castelgarden, as well as in its Private Label and OEM business.
